Are You Really Ready To Get Funded?

“All you need to do is get me in front of investors.”

I hear this a lot.

You know your idea is brilliant.

Because a few people told you…

Your mates…

Your spouse…

And the person you met networking last week.

So it must be ready to put in front of investors.

But your business is pre-revenue…

…with no proof of concept.

And no audience/customers.

And less than 1% of pre-revenue/proof of concept businesses get funded via angels or VC’s.

The rest comes from your own pocket, friends and family.

So what makes your business proposition a likely part of the less than 1% club who hit all of the investor sweet spots?

It’s not the ability to avoid answering tough questions with long-winded answers.

It’s certainly not the confidence to go unprepared into a meeting with investors.

And it’s definitely not the ability to talk until they get it when you have no real substance/traction/audience.

It is being able to leverage the credibility of you and your team.

The ability to answer any question in under 15 seconds will definitely help.

And the ownership of something truly unique about your proposition will amplify your prospects exponentially.

A patent helps.

As does self-investment.

A live platform with a growing audience is a big step in the right direction.

Or at least an increasing social media following where you have tested your idea.

But half-arsing it in front of investors will likely see your prospects of investment last about as long as a goldfish in a tank of piranhas.

So getting your pitch ready and testing it before you go live is always a good idea.

If you want to know whether you are pitch ready, get in touch and I’ll let you know.

If you have a 1 page funding summary for your business funding proposal you are welcome to send it to me at adam@adamshaw.co and I’ll point you in the right direction.
